Coach Eric McGuire and Raven Barnes arive in Colorado Spring for US Championships at Olympic Training Center.  Just last Year Barnes captured both Jr Olympic National and PAL National Championships (as a Junior). Now shes looking to make her mark in the Adult Open Class.

Erique Davis came up just short after a very impresive win over Kevin White at 138lbs. Open Sr. Class in Michigan Junior Olympic State Tournament that bout was a rematch between Davis and White from the Finals in the 2010 Arnold Sports festival White won that bout to claim that title and the Gold Medal. This meeting between Davis and White, Davis came out on top to advance to the finals for a match up with the very tuff Gabrial Garza "B.B" who is no stranger to National competition. This was the first match between Davis and Garza, and was action packed from the first bell if there was a Best Bout Award this one would have been top of the list. Garza got the win and heads to Illinois to Rep the State of Michigan, Davis took Second in the State Class A.  If these to match up again get a front row seat and popcorn.

Barnes, Taylor & Hampton Bring home Gold

 Arnold Sport Fest 2010 there were some 17,000 competitors a said to be over 150,000 people in attendence in the first of the 2 days of competition in verious sports that range from Weight lifting, Body Building, Ju jitsu, 5k Runs, Boxing, Gymnastics, Kick Boxing, Fecning, Swimsuit Competitions, Cheerleading, Dance, Karate, Tai Boxing and much more.

In Boxing we had 4 Boxers, Jasmine Hampton Gold Medal Winner, James Taylor Gold Medal Winner Raven Barnes Gold Medal Winner, and Erique Davis received a Bronze.

A-Square Fight Club's Silver Gloves Team 2010

A-Square sends a Team of Six, they will leave out to win State Titles.  from left to right in first photo  Erique Davis (E), Markeith Browning, James Taylor (J.T), Victor Gonzalez,  Jasmine Hampton (Jazz) & Diyaa Habbas-Nimer "Not in Photo" Let's Get go get it!  Markeith Browning is aming to be the fastest A-Square member to win a State Championship.  Victor Gonzalez got his game tight, and is looking to put his name in the book of Champions as well, Davis, Taylor and Hampton look to add more Championships to there collection.  They should all do very well

Jasmine Hampton wins her 6th. streight State Title her Championship Bout was held in the first day of action in Monroe Michigin Dec. 19th.  Markeith Browning stopped his opponiet in the 2nd rd. and will be fight in the Finals along with Davis, Gonzalaz, Habbas-Nimer and Taylor claim State Titles, but will fight in none Tournament bouts Dec. 20th.  Taylor, Hampton & Habbas-Nimer will advance to the Regionals in Kentucky.  Moses Taylor wins in a first round Stoppage over Darrion Lawson and will also head to Kentucky.

2010 Silver Gloves State Finals 2010

Markeith Browning 2-0 (2ko's) State Champion 70lbs.

Markeith Browning"Fuggy" becomes the Youngest and the fastest Boxer from A-Square Fight Club to win a State Championship Recording 2 wins (2 TKO's)  

Taylor wins None Tournament bout over Devin Tompkins, Tompkins will still advance to Regionals as well.

Habbas-Nimer looses to Tyler Philips in None Tournament bout, but he still advances to Regionals.

Erique Davis (Silver Medalist) fought very well, lost by split dec. to Ronie Austin in the 132 A Class Championship bout. Austin will advance to the Regionals.

Victor Gonzalez (Silver Medalist) drew a very tuff match up in the finals against a young fighter from the UP, Gonzalez lost the bout and finished 2nd in the State.

Class A State Champions Taylor, Hampton & Habbas-Nimer will head to Kentucky for the Regional Championships.

2010 Michigan Silver Gloves Tournament 

Monroe County Community College 1555 S. Raisinville rd. 

Admission will be $12 / Children 12 & under $8

Boxing Start Dec. 19th. 4pm Dec. 20th. 1pm.

The action starts Saturday in Monre Michigan Hosted by Todd Riggs and the Joe's Boxing Club of Monroe Michigan for 2 days of boxing.  Youth boxers ages range from 8-15. Class C Zero to 4 bouts Exp, Class B 5 to 10 bouts Exp.  Class A 10 or more bouts of Exp. For the Class A boxers this is the first step of 3 stages to the National Championships. The 2nd stage Silver Glove Regionals will be held in Kentuckey,  Dr. Martin Luther King weekend Jan. 17th.  This Tournament will then conclude in the State of Missouri in the 1st. week of Febuary, 2010 Silver Glove National.

Very good bout Barnes fought very well but Lock wins the bout buy split decision.  The 2 may meet up again in Oct. for a rematch.  Locke will be heading out of the Country to represent the USA Women Team for the Pan Am Games soon.

Our Boxing Club will be watching this event on the Big Screen @ The Quality 16 Movie Theater on Jackson rd. and we will be doing some Promotions on our gym, come out and watch it with us. 8:30pm Saturday we will be meeting up at the Gym 7:00pm. 112 Jackson rd. Ann Arbor Mi.

A-Square Fight Club A Night at the fights at the Q16 Mayweather dominated Marquez from rd. 1 through 12 dropping him in the 2nd. our club along with some of our guest and friends had a great time watching the fight.

Last years winner of the A-Square Fight club James Toney Inv. Tournament David Jasso out husseld Marcus Finely.  Marcus won his last bout just last week, in a close fight, but his in activity in the ring cought up with him. The fight was there for him to win, I new David would be a good fight for him.  It's something that Marcus needed to experence. Insted of sqeaking by with a victory in that bout, wich was a close one, he should benefit more from that lost. Undefeated in 6 bouts before that lost now 6-1. I think he will get down to bussiness and tap in to his true potential and hell be happy with the results.  Coach E. McGuire

James Taylor wins 5-0 over Sonny Fredrickson of Ohio. Jasmine Hampton falls short 2-3 to Alecia Bomgardner, Erique Davis in a bout the was considered best bout of the night takes loss and Roy Pope started a little bit late and came up short. All of our kids had very crowd pleasing and competitive bouts. Now A-Squares young fighters will get ready for the State Junior Olympic Tournament May 15-16 in Port Huron Michigan.

James Taylor and Jasmine Hampton are returning to the Regional Tournamet  held in Kentucky this year, along with Raven Barnes.  This will be Ravens first trip to the Sliver Gloves Regionals.

Erique Davis 125lbs. Wins his first Silver Gloves Stae Title.  Erique won the first bout stopping a young man out of Detroits Motown B.C (RFC2)  His Second win came over a boxer from Dynamic B.C Westland Mi. Stoping him in the first round (RFC2)

Most Outstanding Boxer Award Winner

Marcus Finley 119lbs. wins The Silver Gloves State Title and a Outstanding boxer Award.  wining on all score cards over a young man from Davidson Michigan in his dominating first victory of the Tournament, then stopping his next opponent also of Davidson Mi. early in the first round and still remaines undefeated 5-0 State Champion.

  R.R goes 2-0 over the weekend, Ryan Rawls Defeats Dan Smith (Dynamic B.C) Friday at the Yacth Club on Bell Isle in the Main Event 11/22 Photo by "Bob Ryder".  Ryan also gets a win over Brian Townsel of Kronk the next day 11/23 Downtown Detroit at the Punchatrain Hotel.  Hamdi Dari of A-square has his first bout but lost a close but competitive bout to the host clubs Cortez Todd in a 80 pound bout.

A-Squares Marcus Finnely photo "by Bob Ryder" in his 1st bout October 25th. in Ypsilanti Michigan.  Now 3-0 with his latest Victory in Bay City Michigan over Bay Citys owne Jessie Varela.  This was Marcus first time competing aganist some one from the United States with his other two victorys coming over Canadian fighters.  This was his Best Bout so far.
